Go to Editorial Manager1. Criteria for Authorship Al-Nahrain Journal for Engineering Sciences (NJES) adheres to international standards regarding authorship. Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study.
To be listed as an author, an individual must meet the following criteria:
Substantial Contributions: Made significant contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data.
Drafting or Revising: Drafted the work or revised it critically for important intellectual content.
Final Approval: Provided final approval of the version to be published.
Accountability: Agreed to be accountable for all aspects of the work in ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.
2. The Corresponding Author One author must be designated as the Corresponding Author and indicated with an asterisk (*) next to their name. This individual is responsible for:
Communicating with the journal during the manuscript submission, peer review, and publication process.
Ensuring all listed authors have approved the manuscript and the order of authorship.
Responding to editorial queries and returning the marked proof within seven days of receipt.
Checking their email (including Spam folders) to ensure confirmation emails and review reports are received.
3. Author Details and Affiliation To ensure transparency, the following details must be arranged just below the title of the manuscript for all authors:
Full name(s)
Qualification(s)
Affiliation(s) (Department, University/Institution, Country)
Address(es) and E-mail addresses.
4. Author Obligations and Forms NJES requires specific documentation to verify authorship and ethical compliance. Upon submission, authors must provide:
Researcher’s Obligation Form: A physical copy with required signatures and stamping (in person for Iraqi researchers, scanned for international researchers).
Conflict of Interest Disclosure: A signed form declaring any potential conflicts.
Copyright Agreement: A form confirming the transfer of publication rights while the author retains copyright.
5. Plagiarism and Originality By submitting to NJES, authors confirm that:
The work is original and has not been published or considered for publication elsewhere.
The manuscript does not violate any intellectual property rights or international laws.
The manuscript adheres to strict plagiarism limits. NJES uses Turnitin for screening; total plagiarism must not exceed 20%, and plagiarism from a single source must be less than 5%.
6. Changes in Authorship Any changes to the author list (adding, removing, or rearranging names) after the initial submission must be approved by all authors. A written explanation for the change may be requested by the Editorial Board. Once a manuscript is accepted, changes to authorship are generally not permitted.
7. Acknowledgements Contributors who do not meet the full criteria for authorship (e.g., those who provided technical support, writing assistance, or general supervision) should not be listed as authors. Instead, they should be recognized in the Acknowledgements section at the end of the manuscript.
