Al-Nahrain Journal for Engineering Sciences (NJES) advocates for the wide dissemination of research while protecting the intellectual property rights of authors.
1. Copyright Retention Unlike traditional journals where copyright is transferred to the publisher, NJES allows authors to retain the copyright of their work without restrictions.
By submitting a manuscript, authors grant NJES the exclusive right of first publication.
NJES is identified as the original publisher in all distributed copies and citations.
2. Licensing (CC BY-NC 4.0) All articles published in NJES are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-Non-Commercial 4.0 International (CC-BY-NC 4.0) license.
Under this license:
Share: Readers are free to copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format.
Adapt: Readers may remix, transform, and build upon the material.
Attribution: Users must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made.
Non-Commercial: The material may not be used for commercial purposes without explicit permission.
3. Copyright Agreement Form Upon submission, authors are required to sign and submit a Copyright Agreement form. This agreement confirms that:
The author retains copyright.
The author grants the journal the right to publish the article.
The work is original and does not infringe on any third-party rights.
4. Rights of Authors Because authors retain copyright, they have the right to:
Reproduce the article for personal use or educational purposes (e.g., lectures).
Include the article in a thesis or dissertation.
Reuse portions of the article in future works (e.g., books), provided the original publication in NJES is acknowledged.
Deposit all versions of the work (Pre-print, Post-print, and Final Published Version) in institutional or public repositories (Self-Archiving).
5. Third-Party Copyright Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce any material (text, figures, tables, or images) for which they do not own the copyright.
The material of the paper must not violate any intellectual property rights of any person or entity.
Proper attribution must be given to the original source.
Any necessary permission fees are the responsibility of the author.
6. Commercial Use Requests Since NJES articles are published under a Non-Commercial license (CC BY-NC), any third party wishing to use published content for commercial purposes (e.g., reprinting in a commercial book, use in marketing materials) must contact the editorial office to request permission.
