The journal was established in 1988 by the College of Engineering at Al-Nahrain University in Baghdad, Iraq. For nearly three decades, it published under the title Nahrain University - College of Engineering Journal (ISSN: 1812-187X). This period established the journal as a key outlet for local and regional engineering research.
Transformation and Modernization (2017) In 2017, the journal underwent a significant modernization process to align with international publishing standards and open access principles.
New Title: The journal was renamed Al-Nahrain Journal for Engineering Sciences (NJES).
New Identifiers: It adopted new ISSNs (Print: 2521-9154, Online: 2521-9162) and a DOI prefix (10.29194).
Digital Archiving: The current website hosts the full digital archive of issues published from 2017 to the present.
Legacy Archives Issues published under the previous title (Volume 1 to Volume 19, Issue 2) are preserved in our Legacy Archive. These historical documents remain accessible to researchers through a dedicated link.
Timeline of Achievements
1988: Journal founded.
2017: Rebranding to NJES and expansion of digital archiving (2017–Present).
2017: Awarded the Al-Nahrain University Prize for the Best Scientific Journal.
